Non was originally born in Unova. However when he was around 5-10 years old he and his family moved to the Johto region, specifically Goldenrod city as it is somewhat reminiscent of the busy cities they were used to.

Every so often Non would go run off to explore around.

Even though he didn’t have any pokemon to defend himself with, wild pokemon never really seemed to be an issue for some reason.

His exploring around eventually led him to the Ruins of Alph.

He was absolutely enthralled by them, both with the fact of them being cool ruins he could explore, but also because there were cool puzzles there and fuck yeah puzzles.

Unown begin to follow him around by this point as well.

At around age of 15-17 his parents passed. To distract himself from the grief he poured more time into exploring the ruins, even sleeping in them on occasion as he didn't feel like returning home.

By this point all the scientists there know him quite well so when they find him asleep there they often wake him up and let him lodge in the lab that’s set up there. Non claims to have weird dreams whenever he sleeps in the ruins, but can’t remember quite what happens in them.

Around age 20, Non is exploring the ruins as usual when a new visitor arrives. The person introduces herself as Cynthia.

The two of them talk for a while, mostly about the ruins themselves, when Non brings up that he in fact doesn’t have any pokemon. He says it's mostly just due to him not finding ‘the right one’ yet.

Though he is fond of the Unown he feels that it wouldn’t be right to try to catch one. “They’re my friends anyways, I don’t need them in a pokeball to know that”.

Cynthia tells him that if he ever visits Sinnoh to come see her and she’ll have a pokemon for him.

A few years go by and Non is now 23.

He wakes up in the middle of the night after having fallen asleep in the ruins again. His sleep had been interrupted this time but not by the other scientists, but rather by Unowns nudging against him.

A few Unowns are ushering him to get up. Though confused and a little worried if there was something going on, he gets up and is led outside by several of them.


They lead him out of the ruins and towards the woods to the north.

He walks for hours and hours with them, crossing over a few roads in the process, eventually exiting the region itself. Finally he comes upon another set of ruins, this time only one building as opposed to the Ruins of Alph’s several.

He walks inside.



And then,



Nothing.
